A Revolution in Ocala Music

September 25, 2010

You’re tired of not having a music scene, tired of driving out of the city for a good show. Or you are tired of driving out of town to play a show. That’s why we are here. We want something here, something accessible to us, something that we can be proud of and something we enjoy. This isn’t just for the musicians, this is for the teens with nothing to do on a Friday or Saturday night, this is for all the people who love music but have no way of getting to it in other cities. This is for the fans too, and not just one bands fans, but all the music fans in Ocala, and there are a lot of us.

This isn’t just for one genre of music, this is for the whole Ocala music community. Yes I am about the rap artists, the djs, the ska bands, rock bands, country singers, blues bands and metal-heads. I am talking to everyone who gets up in front of an audience and performs music. This is for all of us. If one of us succeeds we all succeed, that’s how communities are supposed to work.

This is just the beginning of something big, something that will change the face of Ocala and how the press and media view the music scene. And you are invited to be a part of it, not only invited, encouraged. This is our city, this is our hometown and if we want something fixed, we are the ones who need to do it. We want music, lets make it, we want venues, lets build them. Words like that are meaningless without action. Everything here is meaningless without action, so now is the time to stop talking and start walking.

How? By getting everyone involved, by coming out to Ocala shows and showing support, even if you don’t know the band, by standing up and being counted as someone who wants to revive our music scene. Promote Project Revive Ocala Music www.facebook.com/ProjectReviveOcalaMusic to everyone you know who loves music, becoming a member on OBX www.OcalaBandExchange.webs.com, comment, give us your ideas, your comments, concerns.

As one person or band, this is a daunting task, impossible, a pipe dream, but as a community, this can be a reality.

The Revolution is coming, will you be there?

This is Travis Byrd from Fear to Fail. (We’ve played with the slow-motion killers at least twice) As a band we will do anything asked of us to help out the lacking Ocala music scene. Please contact us if there is any way we can help.

It is weak here because no one is standing up and trying to fix it! Instead of crying, would you like to help and get involved so that it is no longer such a tearjerker?
