August 21, 2010 Blue Oyster Cult was in concert at the Silver Springs Theme park along with another rock legend: Foghat.
Blog Ocala had the opportunity to visit as a VIP and catch some of BOC while performing.
Natures Theme Park was rockin’!
I first noticed the classic “Glass Bottom Boats” when I entered the park and memories flashed by as I have such fond memories of this beautiful park as a child! I paused to remember when for a few moments before seeking out the stage!

Silver Springs Glass Bottom Boats
People were racing down the paths heading to the grass area and opening up their folding chairs getting comfortable as they settled in waiting for the concert to start.
The beer boat had a long line:
I was very excited with anticipation waiting for the concert to begin.
I noticed the WINDFM truck and banners then I noticed a tent with concert goodies. I was very surprised that Blue Oyster Cult only had two T-shirt styles and they only had writing on the front:
While FOGHAT had many different items ranging from bumper stickers to CD’s and hats.
Unlike Blue Oyster Cult, their t-shirts had tour information on the backside. The average selling price was $30.00 per shirt.
There was fantastic seating right in front of the stage with chairs. The price to sit there was $20.00. I wanted to sit there but it felt like rain, so I hated to spend the money and then have to leave but I can highly recommend it to be very well worth the money to pay extra and sit that close!
I was looking forward to hearing “Godzilla” myself because I did see this band while I was in college back in the early 80′s and I could remember that song the most.
When suddenly I heard that loud THUMP BUMP I knew it was the opening to the song I was waiting for “Godzilla” and I felt like a teenager again for a brief moment!
Enjoy the clips from this:
Then I felt a few raindrops and it was time for me to leave! My big adventure had come to an end!
I’m looking forward to visiting the park again and spending some quality time on a glass bottom boat! Meanwhile, I was sorry to miss Foghat as I had actually seen them a few times during my teenage years but I had no seat and no umbrella so I had to make an early departure. In my younger days the rain would not have bothered me nor would I had cared if I got all wet in the rain, but life changes!
The few songs I did hear I sincerely enjoyed it!

I’m a big fan of BOC ballads. I hope you heard “Don’t Fear the Reaper” before the rain came down. It looks like a great place for a concert. How fun!
I was a photographer for this event! If you want to see more pictures visit my FB site or website.
