I’ve been bringing my grandmother to the Ocala Podiatry Center for a couple years now and I must say the building is amazing!
When we first came here I felt like I was at the Disney welcome center! The automatic doors opening up to the grand entrance into a very spacious seating area divided by a long partial wall. One side of the sectional holds a sink and a “Community Coffee” center. Complete with cream, sugar and artificial sweetener. And I must say the coffee is fantastic!

Grandma enjoys reading: Ocala Magazine while we wait.
They even have a play room/reading room for children, complete with a TV set broadcasting the “Nick” channel!
Today we arrived at 2:50 PM for a 3:10 appointment. Once I signed Grandma in we were given a “Patient Pager.”

This is the same sort of pager I have been given at Carrabbas! (Great place to eat btw) And I think Longhorns (Highly recommend their steak sandwiches for lunch) has the same type of pagers too.
Grandma’s pager went off at 3:57 PM and all I could think of was “Time to eat!”
I honestly don’t understand the pager concept for a foot doctor? Is it because they don’t like to call out the patience name into the lobby? Could it be a patient name protection policy? Yet, when we signed in I could easily view all the other patience names that signed in before us so I don’t see that being the case. Is it just a “cool” thing to do? I did notice how handy it was for a man outside smoking. Puffing away with his pager in hand made it nice for him not to miss his turn. What is your guess?
I like to remain in the lobby while they treat my grandma’s feet. I know they take good care of her and personally I don’t enjoy watching grandma get her toenails trimmed so I hang out in the lobby with my laptop, cup of coffee and the entertainment of listening to all the conversations going on in the lobby waiting to see whose pager will go off next! Each patient clutching their pager and glancing at it now and then waiting in anticipation of their turn!
I must say every visit we’ve had to this office has been a long waiting time. Grandma and I don’t generally mind because we learned about this fact from our first visit. We were here a good two hours. The attention they gave her was very good but the waiting time is the price you pay for the good service. Keep this in mind when booking an appointment. Bring along a good book or like me, bring your laptop. There is no internet connection but there is a hand outlet by a local telephone on a side table.
All went well with Grandma as she was pleased about her feet even though it was 4:15 pm when we pulled out of the parking lot.

Nothing like a good, honest review to help prepare someone for a visit. I don’t mind waiting if I know it means the doctor is going to be thorough and not rush me. Sounds like the wait time is worth it, especially if you can take a walk with your pager. The pager is helpful for the hearing impaired and may save a tiny bit of time. Tell your grandma I LOVE her red shoes!
